I got to ride last Sunday and today. My goal is to ride in the one flat class at the Hunter Trials Sept. 29 and maybe hilltop with Wendy on the opening day hunt. Last Sunday we worked on lots of long trotting. Today I rode in my western saddle and warmed Justin up in side reins. He's definitely out of shape. I'll need to try and get out at least 3 days a week but this week I'll be working the Emerald Quarter Horse Show up in Monroe.
I got all my saddles clean and oiled today which is exciting. Also got my professional choice saddle pad clean with some Dawn Hand Renewal and the hose sprayer. Works great!

Meet Sunny!
Two weeks ago, James and I adopted our 5th cat. A kitten from a somewhat sketchy pet store that I frequent often because of all the interesting creatures they have. We saw her many weeks prior and felt bad for her because she was significantly smaller than the other 20 or so kittens jammed into the tiny display with her. When I went back and noticed she was still there and one of only a handful of kittens left I made the mistake of telling James. We discussed it at length that night and decided that 4 cats was plenty but both kept thinking about her. The next day James went and bought her on the way home from work and surprised me.
Sunny is very playful and loving little thing and is getting along with our other cats wonderfully. Especially our other orange tabby, Punkin. Upon our first vet visit it was discovered she had round worms and parasites. Currently the treatment is doing a number on her already sensitive stomach. Hopefully this first round of treatment clears her all up.
Riding Log Day 3
Well it's actually been over a week since I've even been to the barn but I forgot to post my last ride and I actually got pics and everything. Sadly my last ride was August 4th and it's now August 20th. Where did the time go?
I spent the last week working in the show office at the Region One Quarter Horse Show at the Tacoma Unit. It was a huge show and a lot of work. I'm looking forward to working the Emerald Quarter Horse Show next month. It'll be so much easier in comparison.
I did get out to the barn August 12 to help with some arena wall repairs but it was so hot I decided to just give Justin a bath instead of ride. He was so soft and shiney!

Riding log day 2
Well it's been a week and a day since I last rode. I can't even call myself a weekend warrior. I should be able to get out to the barn tomorrow to ride again though. Tonight I got out of work late and stopped by Del's for some fly spray. Just lunged Justin and set up a jump to get him workin. We did some of the Clinton Anderson drills for fun. I think Justin liked doing something different.

Riding log day 1
Rode Wednesday this week. Pretty hot out. Warmed up for a long time with serpentines trying to keep shoulders up and did lots of sitting trot. Practiced our counter canter both ways and got 2 flying changes out of maybe 8 attempts. One was really nice. Hope to get to ride again Sunday. Must remember to bring my English saddle pads back to the barn. Justin has been a cross dresser since the July show.
